For people who are at high risk of obtaining HIV, there is a medical technique that substantially minimizes the chance of contracting HIV. Pre-exposure prophylaxis is referred to as PrEP. PrEP is an antiretroviral medication that helps HIV-negative people stay HIV-free even if they have intercourse with HIV-positive or unknown partners without using a condom.
